How to play Russian Solitaire

Choose a round of Russian Solitaire and settle into its rules. Build four suit foundations from ace to king. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move. Identify the playing area and the controls you need. Use the example below to understand a decision.

Yukon-style deal, same-suit building, no stock. Free solo play, no wagering.

A careful first round

Before your first action, say what you are trying to achieve. Then compare the result with the goal. Use the example to check your reasoning.

Your goal

Build four suit foundations from ace to king. Use the instructions to see which actions move you towards it. Try to explain the aim in your own words.

Step by step

  1. Move any face-up card and its tail onto the next higher rank of the same suit. Kings fill empty columns.
  2. Select a face-up card and then the destination pile or Empty slot.
  3. Use foundations where available; full Spider or Scorpion runs clear automatically.
  4. Undo reverses a choice. New deal shuffles again.

Controls

Click or tap cards and piles. Wide tableaus scroll inside the game; use Undo, Hint and New deal where shown. Keep the playing area visible while using these controls. Look at the feedback after the action.

A useful example

A heart 6 fits a heart 7, not a spade 7. Focus on why the action is allowed, not only its outcome. Look for the relevant detail.

Watch out for this

Random deals are not guaranteed solvable. A hint is a legal move, not a winning strategy. Check the rule before repeating the action. Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board.
